Head Coach Nagy Abdelrazek

Twelfth-year Head Coach Nagy Abdelrazek has the Cardinals poised to compete for another CAC championship just years after it won a mere five matches. His hard work resulted in 24 wins in 1999, an appearance in the CAC title game and his second CAC Coach of the Year award.

One of the most respected coaches in the game, Abdelrazek was one of just 26 coaches nationally to qualify for Level III of USA Volleyball’s Coaching Accreditation Program at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1998. His knowledge and experience have paid rich dividends for the Cardinals.

Abdelrazek came to CUA in 1993 and made an immediate impact by guiding the team to a record of 32-13. The next season, the Cardinals went 36-17 and won the CAC championship. In recognition of his outstanding work, Abdelrazek was named CAC Coach of the Year.

A 1984 graduate of the University of Alexandria in Egypt with a degree in physical education, Abdelrazek has passed both the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Level III and USA Volleyball Coaches Association Program Level III certification exams. His FIVB certification qualifies him to coach international teams.

Abdelrazek started playing at the national level in Egypt at age 16 and continued into college, where he was a four-time All-Star. He has played in more than 75 matches at the international level.

Abdelrazek works for Mid-Atlantic Volleyball as a camp and clinic instructor and coached the Court Jesters, a USA Volleyball Women’s A-Elite team, from 1991-97. In ’96-97 he guided the squad to the Chesapeake Region championship and a berth in the national championships. The Court Jesters continue providing support to the CUA volleyball program.

Abdelrazek and his wife Elizabeth live in Kensington, Md., with their daughters Alexa and Betsie.
