1996 Season
Season in Review
The Cardinals lost 14 of their first 18 matches and dropped their last
six of the season. Catholic won eight of 11 during a midseason run and
finished second at the Salisbury State tournament and fourth of 12 teams
at Haverford.
Senior outside hitter Kristin Bufka was named First Team all-CAC
and finished fifth in the nation with 4.74 kills per game. Bufka, who
led the Cardinals with 640 total kills and a .227 attack percentage, was
named GTE District II Academic All-American and Division III National
Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for
the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Senior Kathleen McNeilly averaged
a team-high 7.2 assists per game. Freshman Mary Roy was second
in the CAC in digs per game (4.58).
